The Cocal Gracias Project started as a grassroots video documentary in 2006 by two college grads looking to make a difference in the world. After visiting the city dump in Puerto Cortes, Honduras where 250 people lived, they decided to tell the people's story to induce awareness and change for their situation. Since then, The Cocal Gracias Project has grown by leaps and bounds, gathering support from all over the U.S.
With a full time project director, a team of dedicated philanthropists and the generous donations of all those who support the project, The Cocal Gracias Project has set out on its goal to provide a technical school that will give the people of Puerto Cortes an opportunity to better their lives by teaching them vocational skills and trades. Right in the heart of Colony La Esperanza, The La Voz Technical School finished construction in 2008 and has started classes in auto mechanics, auto-electricity, welding and English.
Although the project has made signficant progress, we are still in need of funding and supplies to enhance the La Voz school experience. We invite you to get involved and make a difference!
