Celebrating 10 years of service!

WELCOME TO COCAL GRACIAS

A Non-Profit working with Jesus in Honduras

With Covid-19 Honduras is on lockdown, but the kingdom is not! COCAL GRACIAS is directly involved with giving vital care to families during the crisis.  We have distributed food to 343 families in their time of need; only 157 to go!

WE HAVE A VERY SUCCESSFUL FOOD CAMPAIGN!

                                                        THANK YOU COCAL FAMILY!

Honduras has been on lockdown for a two months now.  No one can leave their house or circulate, except for one day a week according to the last number of their ID. In Cortes, there have been more cases of Coronavirus than any other state and more harsh restrictions.  No one can leave their house except in an emergency.  The government just announced no one will be leaving their home for two weeks.   Supermarkets, pharmacies, and banks are also closed until May 1.  Hundreds of families in Puerto Cortes are in dire need.  They have no work, no savings, and no food. In the middle of all this, our ministry team has partnered with pastors all over the city to deliver funds and supplies to the most at risk families.  Cocal Gracias is raising money to continue this effort.  We want to provide for 500 families during this crisis!  Join us in being the body of Christ.

A Covid-19 testimony from our in-country Director

Once more, I am so thankful to God for the opportunity he has given me to be used by Him.                                                                                  He used us to deliver his blessing to many houses that, at this time, are in extreme need.                                                                                        For me, it is a blessing, and an opportunity to experience all the work that goes into                                                                                                  providing care packages for others.  It is a lot of work! But, what a reward it is to see the                                                                                          recipients faces light up!  It makes all the hard work and fatigue worth it.  Instead of                                                                                                  weakness, we feel satisfaction.  I love seeing our team in the ministry so enthusiastic about                                                                                    working for the benefit of others.  We not only provided food, but masks as well.  Our                                                                                              sewing class has made over 150 masks.  I also think about all the families that literally had                                                                                      nothing to place on their dinner tables, who did not even know if they would eat that night,                                                                                    and suddenly we arrived with the blessing God sent for them! They were so excited to see                                                                                      they now had food for their families.

One lady that we gave food to was outside her house and lost in thought, staring into space.  When we stopped and I told her we had a gift for her, she covered her face with her hands and turned red trying not to cry in front of us. These are the moments that motivate us even more!

Thank you to everyone who donates so that we can take much needed provisions to the tables that need them the most.  May God multiply your blessings as you give.

Kimberly Menjivar –translated from Spanish

Kimberly was a neighbor of our ministry in La Esperanza.  Her mother Teodo worked with Rina in the kitchen.  She used to visit the minisry and spend time  with the Ruarks.  In  2015 she gave her life to Jesus.  In 2019 she started working at MLV as the Administrative Secretary.  When Brian and Rina came to the U.S., she took over running things in Honduras.  She has remained director since the Ruark family is unable to return home under the Covid-19 restrictions.

MINISTERIO LA VOZ

For Those of you who are wondering about our regular activities, classes in the ministry have been suspended by the government, but we continue to serve and teach our 69 English students online.  We continue to provide bible studies and pastoral care to our students through videos, Whatsapp, and Zoom.  Don Will is building us a ministry phone app that will be used for future online classes.  Rosa, along with her family and friends has dedicated her quarantine to visiting the ministry and sewing masks for emergency personel in our town, and for neighbors. Kimberly, Mario, Teodo, Brayan and Heidy have been working on providing donated food to needy families. We are preparing for the future when classes can resume on campus.  Construction on our Children's Center will resume as soon as people are allowed to work.  We hope to still complete the first two classrooms this year and begin to serve children.  We need a further $50,000 for the center but are well on our way.  We look forward to receiving mission teams again and believe there will never be a better time to come and serve than after    Covid-19. In the meantime, we can bless at risk families wih food.  God bless all of you and thank you for your support!
